The Life Sciences & Systems Technical Committee (LS&S TC)

SCOPE      The Life Sciences & Systems Technical Committee (LS&S TC) encompasses the advancement of science and technology required to support humans and other living organisms in the design and utilization of aerospace, marine and surface systems. The LS&S TC also conducts and encourages related educational activities, as well as promotes public awareness of the benefits resulting from space life sciences research and systems development.

FUNCTION      To guide and promote life sciences research and development of technologies related to providing habitable environmental conditions in extreme and isolated environments; to provide a forum for exchange of ideas between those involved in these disciplines; and to enhance space life sciences and human spacecraft design education.

ACTIVITIES      The LS&S TC supports conferences and other events aimed at advancing space life sciences and related technological systems. The TC is a co-organizer of the annual International Conference on Environmental Systems (ICES), co-sponsored by the AIAA and other organizations. Additional activities include, but are not limited to, award nominations, educational outreach, development of position papers and journal articles on topics of interest, sponsorship of technical short courses, and participation in AIAA Technical Activity Committee (TAC) events.

MEMBERSHIP      To support its wide range of committee activities, the LS&S TC maintains an international membership with a broad background in surface, aero, and space life sciences and systems. LS&S TC members represent a cross-section of individuals that includes representatives from industry, government (civilian and military), and academia.

AIAA Social Media Policy11/2/2016 8:32 AM
by Betty GuillieNo presence information
AIAA has a Social Media Policy! Many committees (along with regions, sections and branches) have "unofficial"-official AIAA pages on Facebook, Twitter, etc. The policy isn't meant to be a set of rules that would constrain activity on those pages; it just outlines what the Institute would consider to be inappropriate content for an AIAA-branded page and explains what to do in the case of a hack or account compromise. To access the Social Media Policy, please click on this link: http://www.aiaa.org/SocialMediaPolicy/.
